Certificate in Project Management QLS Level 3

The Certificate in Project Management consists of the following 5 units:

Unit 1:  An overview of Project Management

This first unit discusses the principles of project management, what project management involves, its importance and essential tools and techniques. Project lifecycle and project constraints are introduced as well.

Unit 2: Planning a project

This unit explores the concepts of project planning which includes project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure. Candidates also learn about professional project closure, project control, and management techniques.

Unit 3: Project Scope Management

Course content moves to project scope management in the third unit where candidates are made to understand its processes – planning, controlling and closing. Also, product scope and project scope are examined along with the differences between them.

Unit 4: Time Management and Project Management

Time management is an aspect crucial to the success of any project. The fourth unit focuses on the importance of professional and accurate management of time along with the creation of workable and comprehensive project schedules.

Unit 5: Project Quality and Risk Management

Unit 5 shifts attention to the two vital aspects of project management – project quality and risk management. Candidates are taught the process of quality evaluation to meet or exceed organisational goals and objectives. Candidates are also exposed to risk analysis and decision-making in project management.  

Unit 6: Communication skills in project management

Unit 6 focuses on the importance of effective and professional communication to all stakeholders for successful project planning and execution. Project constraints, assumptions, communications planning and modalities are explored. Candidates are able to effectively plan, manage and control communications during projects on completing this course.

Unit 7: Global Project Management

The final uni centres on the benefits and prospects of managing international projects and how to handle them efficiently. Differences between domestic and international projects, global communication, conflict management and other essential global knowledge areas are covered.

On completing the course, candidates are well-prepared to take up roles in various sectors such as energy, manufacturing, technology, finance and others. They may be able to secure top jobs as assistant project managers, operational officers, etc.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
